pretty in pink
Sunset over Puget Sound -- Seattle, WA -- 10.16.05
The pink was short lived, literally just a minute later this scene was all grays and blues. The pink was pretty, but eery in a way.

Oh, yes! There have been so many breathtaking sunsets that were muted and ordinary by the time I got to my camera. More than I care to remember. Something about the angles involved; the colours that strike the eye as so out of the ordinary are so fleeting. A sudden turn into the clouds, being at the right place to catch the reflection... A metaphor for life, times, even relationships. I think we recognize that instinctively and that's why it's so exciting to finite beings like us.

A metaphor, yeah. You just summed up how I feel everyday working as a pj. Fleeting moments that go unrecorded because the shutter was pressed a milisecond too late. Or because I wasn't close enough. Being in the right place at the right time and prepared is what separates the great pjs from the rest of us.

You mean, like in this shot...? :)

Yeah, except this shot doesn't involve people. And really, pj is all about people. Plus, everyone gets lucky sometimes. ; )
Meanwhile, thank you for the kind words. : )
