imperfect beauty

View of Mt. Rainier through the industrial side of downtown Seattle ~ 12.08.05

A slighty out of focus view of Mt. Rainier from the West Seattle Bridge ~ 12.09.05

Sunset ~ West Seattle ~ 12.09.05

The weather, though chilly, was really beautiful the past week. We were blessed to see Mt. Rainer in some form three days in a row, which is saying something. So, even though I'm encouraged not to shoot and drive, I took the opportunity to grab these images along my commute. I am gravitating toward the imperfect, for whatever reason ... and finding beauty there.

Wow, the weather seems pretty awesome in Seattle after all! All the rumors about cloudy, misty weather must be a conspiracy to keep out Californians!

Be careful, lest the State of Washington revoke your drivers license and voting rights if you keep posting these beautiful pictures.

Well, hey, it appears you're an expert at multi-tasking. There's nothing like telephone wires and strange columns of mostly metal to mar an otherwise gorgeous scene of nature's beauty.

Or is it like this: there's nothing like a temporary glimpse of the civilization that once thrived at the foot of what was thought to be a dormant little volcano?

Either way, thanks for sharing and make sure to wear your protection-from-volcanic-eruption ointment just in case.

...a little boisterous thanks to some pinot grigio and no more homework!

Jesus, wow, that middle shot looks like those old 1950s pastels that used to open Paramount movies. That's gorgeous. I wish we had vistas like that to photograph around here.

Seren -- Very funny! I actually have thought the rumors about the weather in Seattle were perpetuated to keep people from moving here. It's not blue skies and sunshine here every day though, it's a fact that we can go weeks under the clouds around here. But lately, we've had more blue-sky days than (I think) is typical for this time of year. I've only lived here a few years, so I'm not really sure exactly what's typical just yet.

Protection-from-volcanic-eruption-ointment ON. : )

Hi Lone -- Ya know, I thought the very same thing about that photo at first. Thanks for the compliment! : )

It's a great city. I really love living here, most days anyway. : )
