"Life moves on, whether we act as cowards or heroes. Life has no other discipline to impose, if we would but realize it,than to accept life unquestioningly. Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from, everything we deny, denigrate or despise, serves to defeat us in the end. What seems nasty, painful, evil, can become a source of beauty, joy, and strength, if faced with an open mind. Every moment is a golden one for him who has the vision to recognize it as such." ~Henry Miller

It's a statement worth embracing. I've always thought there's usually something human behind even the strangest actions. Truman Capote put into the mouth of one of his characters a phrase that summed it up for me, now and forever: "The only unpardonable sin is deliberate cruelty."

Somehow Newton's words come to mind, "every action has an equal and opposite reaction". It seems many times people often let one action (good or not) lead them the rest of their lives. They stay on a path thinking there's no off ramp ... when changing their course is as simple as changing their mind and stepping away from a situation. Though sometimes changing course and the "reactions" that follow can lead to other issues. Lack of responsibility being one. Then one thing leading to another and so on.
Capote's words ring true, except I keep thinking about perception. What one person sees as deliberate cruelty another may not. There's no black and white here -- gray area abounds.
