Sometimes I miss the ocean. The wide vistas, the huge waves when the storms are passing. Mind you, when I was down at Hanlan's Point getting water up my nose, I didn't miss the sting of the salt. Or waiting hours for the water to come back in from the other side of the planet. :)

Looks so peaceful...and blue's my favorite color. I wish I could be there right now instead of doing my essay. =^-^=

Hi Kat, Anytime you need a break away from school work that photo will be waiting for you. : ) Best.

Though it is saltwater, we are far from the ocean. I think a 100+ miles, though I could be off on that. So, no huge waves, and no views without land (unless the fog is in). But it is beautiful, no question. This is, by far, the most beautiful place I've lived. And though I can't explain it, life feels different when you live near water.

For me, it was the Atlantic. But it's been a long time since I lived by the ocean. I still remember the summers there, though. That was the best. :)

I'll hopefully never forget this time living by the Puget Sound. I'm actually sort of hoping I'll never have to live away from water ever again. Doesn't have to be fresh water, but I'd like to live near water the rest of my days I think.

I've always lived either on the Atlantic or the Great Lakes. I wish there were mountains closer, but I wouldn't want to give up the water. Well, especially now. :)

Oh such a lucky man. : ) Especially now that you've personally experienced Hanlan's Point?

You know what; I didn't want to go straight for that, but that's what I was thinking. :) Especially the third time I was down there (that time when the parasailor nearly beaned me) when the surf was crashing on the shore... it reminded me of the Atlantic on mildly stormy days. Have to get down to the Point more often next year.

You know, looking at the shot again, I neglected to say what I find so remarkable about it... two things. One: it's composed entirely of white and shades of blue... which, when you think about it, is a rare accomplishment in unretouched photography... and two: the sea fades into the sky without the sharp resolution of a horizon line. Contemplating it is like plunging the mind in the cool, placid depths of the infinite.
