point & shoot

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Right Lone? : ) I guess the meter read for the grass here. 'Cause my feet look way washed out and almost freakish. Then again, I suppose it makes the image a bit more interesting. Maybe.

Lookin' for lunch.

Rain or shine?

Hey, is that your lawn, Kat, or did you head off to feel the world as you pass? The colours in the shots are so strong; it's just a sea of green around that crow.

See, there you go -- natural primates in North America. :D

Also: confession time. I deleted a bunch of your comments at my blog due to the way I post things and your being on-hand while I was doing it. When I post photos, it's just a holdover till I can paste them, links and all, into the body of the text. Then I delete the redundant photo posts. Unfortunately, it turns out you commented in some of those posts, and those comments went too. Sorry about that. :(

Do you know a way to post photos and text (beyond just captions) at the same time?

Well, I sometimes think of it as my lawn ... but it's really a park in Bellevue, WA. I eat my lunch there often. It's a nice place to hang out and people watch. Yesterday, I went barefoot ... just a test run before I (as you said) head off to feel the world as I pass.

It's all good. : )

I wrote about this on your blog. Hope it works for you. : )

Sounds like a great place to start. Is it near the ocean? How'd it make you feel?

It did indeed; I posted the Star Trek blog all in one throw. :)

Nope, not near the ocean or any fresh water. There is a large water feature in the park and Lake Washington is only about a mile or two away.

How'd it make you feel?

I wish I had some great narrative to lay out for you. But well, since I work on Saturdays, it was a lunch break. I was a bit harried and was having a hard time losing work thoughts. (I missed an assignment that morning, a scheduling issue but I felt bad.) What I remember that was good is: that the grass was damp and cool and the park was mostly my own. Though the crows were attempting to browbeat me for some lunch. ; ) It did feel good to lose the shoes and socks for a little while. So, I'm planning to continue with the test runs in familiar places and see where that leads.

Very good.

Was it Washington that spawned such white feet??? I hear it's a depressing place to live becasue the sun does not shine very often. In Denver we get 300 days of sunshine a year. Thanks for helping me collect two more facts about Washington. Its the home of green grass, white feet and my favorite band, The Briefs.

Can't blame the state for the white feet. We get sun the whole summer ... so, that means I'm to blame for the white feet. Haven't been spending enough time barefoot! But the green grass, that's all Washington's doing. : )

I thought he was just a cherry tree assassin... are you sure green grass wasn't one of Ben Franklin's ideas?

In Seattle? I always thought that Perry Como bit about "the bluest skies you've ever seen" was the biggest geographical spin job since the naming of Greenland. :)

Always the comedian.

Yes, blue skies in Seattle ... all summer. We just keep the rain story circulating to keep the tourist population down a bit. ; )

I guess the sense that's wearing thin. I'll rope it in. :)

Many many years ago, in the Days Before the Internet, I had a correspondent in Seattle who told me, on mention of that song (which I loved as a kid and still do) that (according to him) it was a show tune about attracting settlers to the city. He said, I think it was, that the greyest skies you've ever seen would have been more truthful, but hardly inspiring. So what's the verdict?

Right now, as I sit near the window in the library, it's sunny skies all around. A few white puffy clouds scattered. But generally sunny. I moved here in the middle of the summer of 2003, I was surprised that it didn't rain at all the first 6 weeks I was here. Now, after my third summer, I can say from my experience ... the summers are sunny in Seattle. Occasional rain at best.

The rest of the year, well ... gray skies is the correct description.
